These sauntering Sweet N' Spicy Chicken Breasts will be all the rage at your next star-studded event or quiet meal for two. Ingredients
- For the sauce:
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
- 1/3 cup water
- For the chicken:
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, pounded to even thickness
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- green onions, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the brown sugar, the hot sauce, the garlic, 1 teaspoon of the salt, the apple cider vinegar, and the water and whisk to combine. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 4 -Season both sides of the chicken breasts with the salt and the pepper.
Step 5 -In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
Step 6 -Add the chicken breasts to the olive oil and cook until just browned, about 1-2 minutes per side.
Step 7 -Transfer the browned chicken to the prepared baking dish.
Step 8 -Use a pastry brush to evenly add the sauce all over the browned chicken breasts. Reserve the remaining sauce.
Step 9 -Bake the chicken breasts until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 10 -Evenly pour the remaining sauce over the chicken breasts.
Step 11 -Serve the chicken breasts garnished with the green onions.
